UP IN FLAMES - TALL BEARDED IRIS T Johnson 2010 Honorable Mention 2012 Temperatures rise and hot embers begin to glow until it goes Up in Flames. It’s hot, hot, hot! Highly ruffled and laced standards and narrow rims around falls are hot pinkish rose. Plush, velvety falls are dark garnet. Smoldering orange-red beards are highlighted by subdued rose white veins surrounding them. Nicely branched stalks with about 7 buds. Grows to 37" and blooms mid season with a slight sweet fragrance. Iris rhizomes are best divided and transplanted after the plants finish blooming and have enough time to store nutrition in their roots. July through September is the best time to dig them up in Ohio. All Iris are grown on my farm and shipped from my home, bareroot with foliage and roots attached.
