This plant has a really cool, eye-catching mix of colors! The dark wine-colored standards are streaked and splashed with golden yellow. The deep rusty red falls are also streaked and splashed with golden yellow, sometimes with a touch of white. It has nine buds on nicely shaped stalks, a subtle sweet scent, and some old gold beards. It reaches about 34 inches and blooms in the middle to late part of the season.
Iris rhizomes are best divided and transplanted after the plants finish blooming and have enough time to store nutrition in their roots. July through September is the best time to dig them up in Ohio. All Iris are grown on my farm and shipped from my home, bareroot with foliage and roots attached.
