This large sooty black self has quickly been recognized for its intense ebony color. This child of Dykes Medal winner Before the Storm is one of the best dark black Iris we currently have available. In addition, Midnight Oil offers a pleasing sweet fragrance late in the bloom season. Grows to 36 inches tall and blooms mid to late season.
Iris rhizomes are best divided and transplanted after the plants finish blooming and have enough time to store nutrition in their roots. July through September is the best time to dig them up in Ohio. All Iris are grown on my farm and shipped from my home, bareroot with foliage and roots attached.
