Hybridizer comment: "Ask and you might be told this is a plicata. Or that it's a variegata. Or even that it's a luminata. No, this wouldn't be mendacious, for it is all three: a bicolor luminata-plicata. Light yellow standards with a greenish cast, slightly paler in the center. Falls with an all-over wash of grapejuice purple, the white ground showing mainly as paler veining and fine petal rim, hafts yellow covered by fine grape speckling. Beards are yellow, slight white end area. Blocky flower form with shirred sides. Most stalks with two or three branches, seven buds. We're not lying."

Iris rhizomes are best divided and transplanted after the plants finish blooming and have enough time to store nutrition in their roots. July through September is the best time to dig them up in Ohio. All Iris are grown on my farm and shipped from my home, bareroot with foliage and roots attached.
