This near self, only the black center of the falls breaks the pattern, is another example of the ever-expanding palette of Iris colors. Currently there are few varieties of this wine-colored purple. A lighter medial stripe runs down from the purple beard. Ruffled petals with excellent substance and 8 buds on 3 branches. Grows to 38 inches tall and blooms mid season.
Iris rhizomes are best divided and transplanted after the plants finish blooming and have enough time to store nutrition in their roots. July through September is the best time to dig them up in Ohio. All Iris are grown on my farm and shipped from my home, bareroot with foliage and roots attached.
