CHENILLE - Tall Bearded Iris
Keppel 2010
Honorable Mention 2014
The kicker here is the wild beard, like a glorified strip from a chenille bedspread .. . or a big, fat caterpillar, which after all is what the French word means. Lightly greyed pinkish white to cream petals, faintly undertoned soft violet, are lightly laced and ruffled. Fat, long beards are an almost glowing yellow orange to red orange color. Stems carry three branches and terminal, about eight buds. Grows to 38 inches tall and blooms mid to late season.
Iris rhizomes are best divided and transplanted after the plants finish blooming and have enough time to store nutrition in their roots. July through September is the best time to dig them up in Ohio. All Iris are grown on my farm and shipped from my home, bareroot with foliage and roots attached.
BONUS rhizomes are always included at an average rate of 1 for every 5 purchased...my choice.
