It's the color! Blendings of tapestry red, darker and almost silky in the standards, redder in the falls. Whereas most iris “reds” are a combination of purple and yellow pigments, in this case the yellow is replaced by apricot, giving a subtle orange undertone most apparent on the shirred hafts. (And more apparent in hot, humid weather.) Tile red beards. Flowers of moderate size, but with good branching and bud count generally seven to nine. Easy grower, foliage with reddish purple base.
Iris rhizomes are best divided and transplanted after the plants finish blooming and have enough time to store nutrition in their roots. July through September is the best time to dig them up in Ohio. All Iris are grown on my farm and shipped from my home, bareroot with foliage and roots attached.
BONUS rhizomes are always included at an average rate of 1 for every 5 purchased...my choice.
