The intense deep black color comes from the Dykes Medal winner, Before the Storm. This is an extra-large ruffled dark self that has the savory beauty of a piece of black licorice. Flowers are 6 1/2" x 4 1/4". Six stems per stalk. Grows to 37 inches tall and blooms mid to late season bloom
Iris rhizomes are best divided and transplanted after the plants finish blooming and have enough time to store nutrition in their roots. July through September is the best time to dig them up in Ohio. All Iris are grown on my farm and shipped from my home, bareroot with foliage and roots attached.
