Black Lightning Chapman 2009 Honorable Mention 2013 Award of Merit - 2016 A gorgeous and hardy ruffled black iris with a contrasting violet beard. It has four flowers per stalk and remains in bloom for a long time. Grows to 14.5', blooms early, reblooms and quickly forms clumps.
Iris rhizomes are best divided and transplanted after the plants finish blooming and have enough time to store nutrition in their roots. July through September is the best time to dig them up in Ohio. All Iris are grown on my farm and shipped from my home, bareroot with foliage and roots attached. BONUS rhizomes are always included at an average rate of 1 for every 5 purchased...my choice.
